Heart of The Dales National Park

This Google Map opens up showing The Garth in the centre of the display. The satellite image was taken before we added the extension for Mims! The small river just to the east is Walden Beck, and Burton Bridge can be seen opposite our front gate.

Use the navigation tools to look around the local area , or click ‘View Larger Map’ to open Google maps to explore further afield.

To the west is Bishopdale, which meets Walden just to the north of us before joining Wensleydale (of Wallace & Grommet fame!)

Further south, over Buckden Pike is Wharfedale — the largest valley in the Yorkshire Dales.

Those familiar with the James Herriot stories (All Creatures Great & Small and others) may be interested that the stories were mostly set around Wensleydale and Swaledale (just to the north of us).

Kevin Cosner (as Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves) fought Little John at Aysgarth Falls (in the trees to the north-west of us). Heartbeat is filmed at Goathland on the North York Moors to the east of here, and Last of the Summer Wine is shot around Holmfirth to the south.

However, we simply like living here, and enjoying the never-ending changes in the landscape brought about by the seasons, the weather, and the lighting. We hope you will join us to share our enjoyment.
